Quimesis kaspard

Kaspard

This device alerts caregivers when an elderly person falls or gets out of bed when they shouldn't. This device encourages the autonomy and mobility of people in nursing homes. Production: 2,000 units planned by the end of 2021

Kaspard, the fall and bed exit detector

Who?

Kaspard is a young company that deals with problems related to falls and wandering in medical institutions and at home. The company aims to address the triple challenge of promoting mobility to avoid early deterioration of health, to reduce the risk of falls and to help caregivers who have no real-time information on at-risk situations.

Why?

Kaspard came up with the idea of developing a solution that provides continuous information to caregivers in the event of a fall or getting out of bed. The system is based on a small, contactless, easy, discreet and complete device that is fixed to the wall at height. This technological companion alerts caregivers if the elderly person gets out of bed, falls to the floor, or is absent for an abnormally long time. This device reassures caregivers, provides objective activity reports to institutions and creates a secure environment for the elderly person and their family in the event of a move.

Development

Like any project, this one started with a brainstorming session, in which Quimesis participated. In addition to this preliminary phase, Quimesis' expertise in embedded programming, electronic design and mechanical design of the sensor were also requested.

Quimesis' accumulated experience in the various technologies used was leveraged for the design of the project. As for the detection algorithms, they were developed specifically for Kaspard and are continually improved by our computer engineers.
